  • Local 391 Recommended Candidates for Primary Elections
    Updated On: Apr 109, 2018

Early voting for North Carolina’s primary races started on Thursday, April 19 and continues through May 5 before concluding on Tuesday, May 8.

Local 391 publishes an endorsement list to assist members and their families in the voting booth for the primary election, a contest designed to choose legislative nominees to represent their respective political parties in the November contest.

Local 391's bipartisan endorsement list includes races in its service areas for Congress, General Assembly, Sheriff, County Commission, and local School Boards.

“Local 391 hopes all members exercise their right to vote in the 2018 primary election this spring and we hope that all of our endorsed candidates win on May 8 and advance to the November elections to join our full slate of endorsed candidates,” said Local 391 President Mike McGaha.

Local 391 will have a full list of endorsed candidates for the General Assembly after the conclusion of the legislative short session in late summer.

"Some members make look at the list and ask where Rep. Nelson Dollar (R-Wake) or Sen. Jay Chaudhuri (D-Wake) are on the endorsed list of candidates," said Local 391 Recording Secretary Rachel Eitzen.  "These candidates are friends of Local 391, but are not on the list because they do not face primary challenges this spring.  With no opposition in the primary, they are all awarded automatic byes to the General Election this fall."
