  • May Membership Meeting on May 8 at 10AM
    Updated On: May 123, 2021

We hope to see you virtually on Saturday, May 8 at 10AM on Zoom for the Local 391 membership meeting.  See the graphic for details, including pre-registration by Friday at 5PM.

Pursuant to Local 391’a By-Laws (Article V), notice was given in the Spring 2021 Voice of Teamsters newsletter Executive Board’s recommendation that the Officers, Agents, and Organizer receive a three percent (3%) wage increase to become effective April 1st, 2021.  The recommendation was presented to the membership at its March 13th, 2021 Zoom General Membership Meeting.

“It’s not ideal, but it is necessary and we are making the best of it,” said Local 391 Business Agent Doug Irving, who drives to Greensboro from Wilmington each month to give a report to members around the state about his work in eastern North Carolina.  “We are already seeing Governor Cooper relax restrictions as over one-third of North Carolinians receive the vaccine.”

Irving said that the Zoom meetings, while less personal than in person meetings, has benefits.
“It has given our members who do not live in the Raleigh or Greensboro area the ability to wake up on a Saturday morning, log on to their computers, and hear the work that is continuing at Local 391,” he said.

Local 391 President Mike McGaha said the Union will resume in person membership meetings when Governor Cooper’s executive orders allow for a safe gathering inside.

Right now the maximum that Local 391 can have in either Union Hall is 100 people.

“We appreciate everyone who has participated in the monthly membership meetings by using Zoom,” McGaha said.  “I can assure you that no one looks forward to seeing members, including their families and children, more than me.”

McGaha said he is optimistic that the Union, as well as the entire country, will be back to normal by the Fall and he encourages all members to get vaccinated.
