Local 391 has been working with IBT's government relations team and YRC to help the company qualify for loan assistance from the CAREs Act, a federal bill intended to help companies make it through the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
"We want to help the Treasury Department understand that YRC is an excellent candidate for CAREs Act loans and that good, middle class jobs will be protected if their applications is approved quickly, including jobs right here in North Carolina," said Local 391 President Mike McGaha.
The IBT and YRC specifically asked if McGaha would write a letter to Governor Cooper to ask if he would be willing to contact North Carolina's congressional delegation, express the importance of YRC receiving support, and encourage the delegation to contact Secretary Mnuchin about the application.
Below is Mike's letter to Governor Cooper, which was sent Wednesday morning.
