Over a half-million Democrats cast early votes according to early returns while 368,404 Republicans voted. 234,964 unaffiliated cast votes, which makes predicting a trend nearly impossible.
Teamsters Local 391 President Mike McGaha encouraged all Teamsters Local 391 members to cast votes during this 2014 election regardless of their political party. "I'm not into party labels, but I am into union labels," said McGaha. "And I know when we vote as a Union then the political parties and politicians start to care about union labels, too."
McGaha said when the union label is valued then more rights, higher wages and better working conditions follow. "We must vote as a unit, as a block, and our voices will be amplified," he said.
McGaha encourages all registered voters who have not yet voted to get to a polling station on Tuesday, November 4. "The polls open at 6:30AM and closes at 7:30PM," said McGaha. "No voter ID is required in 2014, but will be required in 2016 so long as the law is not struck down by the courts."
For those Teamsters Local 391 members who are undecided about particular races, the union is providing a list of endorsed candidates that were screened by the NC AFL-CIO. Teamsters Local 391 participated in this screening.
