Mike McGaha is a five decade Teamster who worked as Feeder Driver at UPS from 1984-1995 and was elected by his peers to serve as a Shop Steward. In 1994, Mike was elected as a Trustee and he served through 1995, when he became a Business Agent. In 1999, Mike was elected Secretary-Treasurer and in 2005 he went to work for the IBT. In 2011, Mike returned to Local 391 to serve as Local 391's President.
In 2017, Mike was given the highest honor to a North Carolinian when Governor Roy Cooper inducted him into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. In 2019, Mike was appointed to serve on the North Carolina Advisory Council on Film, Television, and Digital Streaming by Governor Cooper.
Vernon Gammon became a Teamster in 1978 working for Miller Brewing Company and served 13 years as a shop steward. He served as a Rank and File Trustee from 1985 to 1992. Vernon was appointed as Business Agent in 1992 and was elected as Business Agent in 1993. Vernon was elected Local 391 Secretary-Treasurer in 2011.
Vernon is assigned to represent Johnson Controls, Inc. members in Winston-Salem. He was the representative for Miller Brewing, Ball Corporation, Tyson Foods and Rockingham County School System.
Vernon serves as Vice-President, Recording Secretary and Trustee to the Brewery and Soft Drink Conference, and serves as Secretary-Treasurer for Carolina Food and Beverage Council. Vernon was appointed to Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development as a Board Member.
In 2017, Vernon was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to serve on Board of Trustees of the NC Local Government Employees' Retirement System. Vernon's appointment was ratified unanamously by the NC Senate in 2018.
Vernon also serves as Vice President to the NC State AFL-CIO, a post he has held for over 20 years.
Rick Armstrong is a third generation Teamster and begins his term as Vice President of Local 391 in 2015. He first joined the union in 1992 while working for UPS in Jacksonville and Greenville, NC. He left UPS and became a police officer with the Raleigh Police Department, where he served as President of the Raleigh Police Protective Association. In 2006, he led the RPPA into affiliating with Teamsters Local 391. Elected as a Business Agent for the local union in 2011, Rick has proven himself to be an excellent advocate for UPS members working in the Triangle Area. He has also served as a Trustee of Local 391 to serve as a watchdog over the members' dues money.
Rachel Wells began her Teamster career working in the organizing department for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. She started working in the Local 391 organizing department in 2002 and was a key part of many successful organizing campaigns including several public school systems, MV Transportation, First Student, Red Cross and Enterprise Car Rental.
Elected to Local 391’s Executive Board as the local’s recording secretary, Rachel maintains the union’s critical meeting proceedings and other legally required files.
Rachel also serves as a business agent, representing Teamsters who work for public schools, as well as those employed by private transportation companies.
JoCarolyn Wilkins has safely driven Guilford County children to school and back home for 25 years. She served as a key steward in 2004 for classified school employees across the state and has been instrumental in battling for their interests at the General Assembly and at their workplaces. JoCarolyn was taken off the job in 2006 and workd for Local 391 as an organizer. She successfully brought many new members into the Union. She was elected trustee in 2011.

Calvin Tinnen has been a proud and dedicated member of Local 391 for 28 years, with his career at UPS beginning during the historic 1997 strike. While still in his 30-day progression and walking the strike line, he saw firsthand the power of collective bargaining and made the decision to join Local 391.
Starting as a pre-loader, Calvin became an Air Driver in 1998. That same year, he was elected as the first part-time Steward to represent full-time employees in Chapel Hill — a groundbreaking role that reflected his commitment to standing up for his coworkers.
After stepping down as Steward in 2010, Calvin returned to leadership in 2021 when he was elected Steward again in Chapel Hill. In 2023, he transferred to the UPS Mebane hub, serving as a Feeder Steward.
In June 2025, Calvin’s dedication and leadership were recognized once more when he was selected by the Local 391 Executive Board in 2025 to serve as a Trustee through 2026.
Wayne became a Teamster in 1981 working for B/E Aerospace, becoming a Shop Steward from 1983 until December of 1999. In this time he stayed involved with the local union and helped in organizing. In January 2000 became a Business Agent representing members from Fairchild, B/E Aerospace, United Plastics, Gilbarco Veeder Root and Alliance Imaging. In August 2006 was elected as Union Co-Chairman for the Piedmont Grievance Committee. Wayne was assigned in 2009 as representative for Tyson Foods, and I.B.C. Merita.
Chris Vaughn has been a package car driver working out of UPS' Greensboro hub for 25 years. He was elected as a shop steward before being elected by the members of Local 391as a Business Agent in 2011. Chris distinguished himself while serving as a steward as a man who would fight fiercly for his members' rights. He was not afraid of standing on management's toes when he saw that they were violating the contract. Sharpening his skills since since his election, Chris has emerged as an excellent advocate for UPS members at the Atlantic Area Package Grievanc Committee.
Doug Irving is a former package car driver at UPS in Wilmington, where he worked since 1990. Doug is Local 391's newest Business Agent and was a longtime shop steward elected by his members before coming on board as a Business Agent in April 2020.
Mike Bentley is Local 391's newest Business Agent as of August 2, 2021. Mike joined Teamsters Local 391 in 1991 at age 16 when he began his career at UPS as a part time loader. In 2004, Mike became a delivery driver after doing almost every job at UPS. Shortly thereafter, Mike was elected by his fellow Local 391 members to be a Steward, a position he filled with passion and energy.
Mike is married to Christy Bentley for 16 years and has two daughters. Mike is known for going to the mat for his members as a Steward and he's already shown that in his new role as a Business Agent, his energy for assisting his members has multiplied.
Ken Feyen brings more than two decades of frontline experience to his role as Business Agent for Local 391. A proud Teamster who began his career at UPS, Ken worked across nearly every area of the operation—including preload, unload, package cars, and feeders. His hands-on knowledge of the job and deep understanding of the challenges members face day-to-day make him a trusted advocate and representative.
Throughout his 20+ years at UPS, Ken earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and dedication to fairness in the workplace. That same commitment drives his work as Business Agent, where he fights to protect members' rights, strengthen the contract, and ensure every voice is heard.
Ken’s years of experience, combined with his deep roots in the rank-and-file, make him a steady and effective leader within Local 391 and a powerful voice for all Teamsters.
Jimmy George has been a proud and dedicated Teamster since 1992, beginning his career at UPS. In 1994, he joined the team at Gilbarco, where he spent the next 31 years standing shoulder to shoulder with his coworkers—supporting, representing, and advocating on their behalf. Earning the trust of his fellow members time and again, Jimmy was repeatedly elected to serve as Shop Steward, continuing the legacy of union leadership established by his father.
In 2011, Local 391 members elected Jimmy to serve as Trustee, a role he held for 14 years with integrity and dedication. In May 2025, he took the next step in his union journey by becoming Assistant Business Agent for Local 391, bringing with him decades of experience and a deep commitment to the labor movement.
Jimmy’s long record of service, leadership, and member-focused advocacy makes him a respected and steady presence both within Local 391 and across the broader Teamster community.
