As early voting continues this week through October 31 at 3PM, we've put together two lists of recommended candidates on this webpage to help guide you as you vote in this year's midterm elections: the NC State AFL-CIO's recommended candidate list and the Teamsters Local 391 graphic.
If you do not vote during early voting, you can vote on Election Day on November 3. Either way, please vote.
The NC AFL-CIO's list is based on its screening process, candidate interviews, and votes by union representatives. Local 391's recommendations reflect our direct work with lawmakers and elected officials on issues — and our firsthand experience with who has delivered results for working people.
The bottom line: The two lists agree on roughly 90% of their recommendations. But you'll find some candidates on Local 391's list who aren't on the AFL-CIO's. When that happens, it's because we've worked directly with those legislators and seen them deliver for our members.
That work has included advocating for public school employee pay, investing in North Carolina's film industry, defeating harmful constitutional amendments and other bad legislation, and supporting our law enforcement officers.
We encourage you to review both lists, understand the reasoning behind the recommendations, and make your voice heard at the ballot box. Local 391's recommendations are grounded in results—and in who has stood up for you.
